Happy Little Trees vs. Underwater
It's Bob Ross' uber chill forest vs. Allison Harvard's creepy music video!
Happy Little Trees
The case for Happy Little Trees
There may never be a Bob Ross hanging in the Met. You're never going to see "Yet Another Painting of Mountains and a Forest and a Little Stream" in an art history textbook. Ross wasn't about innovation, he was about inspiration. And being super chill. It's impossible to be stressed or negative while watching The Joy of Painting. Ross radiates a serenity that gets distilled and collected into his landscapes. The most common inhabitant of these landscapes? The Happy Little Tree.
The case for Underwater
On the one and only season of ANTM All Stars, Allison Harvard proved she was better than the other models with this super creepy yet emotional music video. What does singing have to do with being a top model? Who knows. But while other girls sang about their boyfriend's or good looks, Harvard went to her recently deceased father for inspiration. By using her trademark gigantic eyes and doll-like features, Allison's video comes off as truly haunting (even with the ridiculous "Pot Ledom" lyric Tyra made all the models include in their videos). Plus, Tyra looks absolutely insane in her part of the video, which is a gift to us all. It's been six years since the season, but "Underwater" still gives me chills.
