Before RuPaul's Drag Race, Acid Betty Was On Project Runway

That queen really gets around!

What the hell? Way back in 2008, when Project Runway was still on Bravo, the designers of Season 5 had to make outfits for drag queens. Their roster of clients included established New York girls like Hedda Lettuce and Sherry Vine, but also there among the painted faces was Acid Betty, currently a front runner on RuPaul's Drag Race.

How'd you find this...whatever this is? While watching a supercut of bitchy comments from Michael Kors, I was reminded that the drag challenge happened, and I thought, "Hmm…I wonder if any of those girls ended up with Ru." When I saw Betty's name, I looked for proof.

Who cares? There's so much to parse! For one thing, RuPaul herself was a judge on this episode, and as you can see in the video above, her wig is thirsty. This aired about a year before Drag Race made her relevant again, so maybe she had to get into drag alone. In the dark.

Meanwhile, I totally remember thinking at the time that Terri was robbed in this challenge, since she designed such an amazing kabuki warrior look for her queen. Now that I realize her queen was Acid Betty, and that Acid Betty is exactly perfect for Terri's look, I'm hoping Terri will be a guest judge on Drag Race this year. After all, we know that Ru has seen her work before!

Finally, if you watch the introductions of all the queens, you'll notice that one of them is named Sharon Needles. Yet she is NOT the Sharon Needles we know. WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING? Who is this impostor? Is famous Sharon the Dorian Corley to Runway Sharon's Robert Wells?
